This novel formulation is a nitric oxide (NO)-donating bimatoprost eye drop designed to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. NCX 470 operates through a dual mechanism of action, combining the effects of NO and prostaglandin analogs to enhance aqueous humor drainage and achieve superior IOP-lowering efficacy compared to existing treatments. The product is currently undergoing multiple Phase 3 clinical trials, including the Mont Blanc and Denali trials, with promising results indicating its potential to meet regulatory requirements for approval in the U.S. and China.

In addition to NCX 470, Nicox is advancing other product candidates such as NCX 1728, an NO-donating phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor, which is in preclinical research for potential applications in glaucoma and retinal conditions. Another candidate, NCX 4251, is a patented ophthalmic suspension of fluticasone propionate nanocrystals, currently in clinical development for dry eye disease. This formulation aims to minimize steroid exposure to the cornea while effectively treating dry eye symptoms.
