OT4B is dedicated to advancing the treatment of Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) through innovative research focused on oxytocin, a hormone that plays a crucial role in various physiological and behavioral functions. Established in 2017, OT4B collaborates closely with the Toulouse University Hospital to explore the potential of oxytocin as the first therapeutic option for PWS patients. The organization emphasizes a patient-centered approach, aiming to address the urgent medical needs of neonates diagnosed with PWS, who often face severe feeding and behavioral challenges. By investigating early treatment with oxytocin, OT4B seeks to modify the disease trajectory and improve the quality of life for affected individuals and their families.

The research conducted by OT4B highlights the dysfunction of the oxytocinergic system in individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome, characterized by a reduced number of oxytocin-producing neurons and impaired system maturation. This understanding underpins their ambitious development program, which includes multiple studies aimed at evaluating the efficacy of oxytocin in treating PWS. By focusing on both neonates and older patients, OT4B is committed to providing a comprehensive approach to care, ultimately striving to make oxytocin treatment accessible to a broader patient population and enhance their daily lives.

‘OT4B was created in 2017, at the initiative of the French Prader-Willi community, to support and continue the academic research work of the team led by Professor Maithé Tauber from the National Reference Centre for Prader-Willi Syndrome at the Toulouse University Hospital*, and ongoing in France since 2007. In partnership with the Toulouse University Hospital, our objective is to develop oxytocin as the first treatment for patients with Prader-Willi syndrome and to make it available as soon as possible to the widest number of patients in order to improve the daily life and future of both patients and their families.’
