HLA-G is a non-classical MHC class I molecule that plays a crucial role in immune evasion by tumors. Normally expressed during pregnancy to protect the fetus from the maternal immune system, HLA-G is exploited by over 70% of cancers to create a suppressive microenvironment that inhibits the immune response. Invectys targets this immune checkpoint with its lead product, IVS-3001, a third-generation CAR-T cell therapy designed to specifically target and eliminate HLA-G-expressing cancer cells. This approach not only aims to destroy tumor cells but also to disrupt the immunosuppressive environment that HLA-G creates, thereby restoring the patient's immune response against the tumor.
