About: NeuroDex is developing a suite of blood-based biomarkers that can identify patients with synucleinopathies even in the context of different forms of dementia. This technology relies on NeuroDex’s recent advances in isolatingcell-specific extracellular vesicles (exosomes) from plasma and detecting protein markers of disease in the contents or on the surface of NDEs. Extracellular vesicles/exosomes are nano-sized (30-200nm) membrane vesicles released from all cell types in the body. While the biogenesis and biological function of extracellular vesicles are complex, it is clear that they carry protein, RNA, and lipids that reflect their cell of origin and thus can serve as a rich source of biomarkers.
